The Mississippi State University chapter of the IBE has successfully hosted the second IBE Regional Student Conference on the campus of Mississippi State University.
The conference was well attended by 80 students, the programs and the food were excellent! There were three concurrent sessions in Bio-energy, Biomedical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering. All sessions were well attended, and almost to full capacity. The Career panels were excellent, with a representatives from the medical school in the state, a practicing physician, a practicing environmental engineer, professors, and a graduate student. There were 24 student posters presented, and the event was culminated by an ice cream social.
The winner of the student presentations:
Graduate student: Scott Tran, et al., “Tissue Engineering Cartilage for Osteochondral Defects”
Undergraduate: Clair Daigre, et. al, “Genetically Engineered System for Lignin Biodegredation”
The prize is a free registration to the National IBE conference in Cambridge, MA, March 4-6, 2010
Requirement: The winner will make a Podium Presentation and will present it at the national conference If there is any clarification from the IBE Headquarters, an additional email will follow. All the presenters received high scores, so they were neck-to-neck close.
