Specialty Areas

Dr. Parajuli’s research covers quite broad areas in the environmental and biological engineering. Potential specialty areas are listed below. Within each area, potential in-depth research is investigated to better understand the cross cutting issues and bring appropriate solutions to engineering problems.

  • Potential specialty areas include: surface and ground water quantity and quality modeling (sediment, nutrient, pesticide, bacteria); conservation practices, crop systems and management modeling; bio-energy crops and economic modeling of bio-gasification system; landuse and climate change impact on water resources; forest management impact; and pathogen transport process.

  • Evaluation of water quality pollutants loadings due to agricultural activities at field, watershed and regional scale using field investigations and modeling approaches.
  • Assessment of crop rotation and tillage management impact including irrigation managements on crop yields, water quality, and economic benefits.
  • Development of economic modeling of bio-gasification systems and feed stock engineering for bio-energy and environment.
  • Analysis of hydrologic responses of long-term climate change on water resources and water quality at watershed and regional scales.
  • Identification, analysis and reduction of non-point source pollutions at various scales.
  • Develop model calibration and validation guidelines and strategies to apply various models developed for the evaluation of flow, water quality and pollutant transport processes.
